Unison Offers First Fully-Unified Communications 'in the Cloud'

Unison partners with leader in hosted email and business communications, Intermedia, to offer instant, simple unified communications as a service to small and mid-sized businesses.

February 24, 2010 – New York – Unison™ unified communications, the leading unified communications software, is now available as a ‘cloud’ or SaaS service through a partnership with Intermedia, a leader in business communications hosting. The new partnership will allow small and mid-sized businesses to get unified communications – including email, telephony, voicemail, instant messaging, real-time free/busy status of colleagues and more – as a simple package, managed by Intermedia, with a simple monthly bill.

Until now, SMBs wanting unified communications have either had to buy on-premise equipment, which is prohibitively expensive and difficult to deploy, or high-priced custom-tailored solutions that integrate vendors like Cisco and Microsoft. With hosted Unison from Intermedia, smaller businesses can now buy the first ‘off the shelf’ hosted unified communications service, with much lower costs and simple, instant deployment.

“Our new joint offering with Intermedia will open unified communications to thousands of companies and resellers around the world,” said Rurik Bradbury, chief marketing officer for Unison Technologies. “At last, unified communications is simple, with a low, predictable monthly cost and a powerful yet easy-to-use single user interface for all business communications. And as a world leader in hosting communications software as a service, customers can count on Intermedia’s famous expertise and support to keep their unified communications running 24x7.”

The first fully-unified communications system

Unlike Microsoft's enterprise unified communications software, Unison is 'fully-unified' in that all communication is powered by one server and one desktop client. Microsoft requires multiple systems and expensive licenses to achieve the same result. This results in less complexity of deployment for hosting providers, and ultimately, a lower-cost simpler experience for end customers.
