Unison Desktop and telephony APIs launched

API documentation extends the power of unified communications to other systems and processes

October 14, 2009 – New York – Unison Technologies has made available the first API documentation for its Unison unified communications solution. The APIs, for the Unison Desktop client and for Unison Server telephony, will allow developers and users around the world to extend Unison functionality.

As an open and extensible platform based on a Linux server, Unison allows companies to unify all their communications in a single system. Now, with the open APIs, companies using Unison can integrate telephony functions with their other systems – for example by using caller ID to bring up a record from a CRM system, or by allowing a caller to enter credit card details, which are passed to a payment system. They can also use 'plug-ins' for Unison Desktop, to extend the functionality available to end users.

"Many developers all over the world have requested APIs and the ability to integrate Unison with other systems," said Rurik Bradbury, chief marketing officer for Unison Technologies. "By delivering a powerful way to connect Unison to other critical business applications and ‘unlocking’ the power of unified communications, we can boost productivity and eliminate siloed systems and processes."
