How to deploy

To use Unison at your company, you need Unison Server, plus a desktop client (ideally you will use Unison Desktop). You can get Unison Server in several ways:

Server

Option 1 – On-premise server

Deploy and run Unison Server on your premises

Pros – Software license is available at no charge
Cons – Must buy own hardware, set up the system, manage it after deployment

Learn more about on-premise deployments or try a live demo.

Hosted server

Option 2 – Hosted service

Pay a monthly ‘per user’ fee to a hosting provider running Unison Server

Pros – Service is managed with no hardware/software to maintain
Cons – Must pay monthly fee to hosting provider

Try hosted Unison from Intermedia, our hosting partner.

Cloud server

Option 3 – Cloud service

Deploy and run Unison Server instantly in the cloud, with pay-as-you-go pricing

On-premise server

To run Unison Server on your own premises or at a colocation facility, you will need to:

Once this setup is complete, you will have fully-unified communications – with e-mail, telephony, voicemail, instant messaging and more. You should either try a live demo or you can download Unison to deploy it yourself.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The Unison Administrator’s Guide gives the following guidelines for hardware and software. This configuration will comfortably support approximately 50 users:

Processor Memory Disk space
Pentium 4 or higher 4 GB or higher 1 GB free disk space, plus storage for e-mail, voicemail and content

Note: Unison performs optimally with large amounts of RAM: for 100+ users, we recommend 4 GB or more; for 200+ users, we recommend 8 GB or more.

To install the Unison software you will need:

Server OS Desktop OS (for end users)
Either Red Hat Enterprise Linux / CentOS (version 5 or later) or Ubuntu Server Edition (version 7.10 or later) Windows or Linux running on your end users' desktop PCs or notebooks
